How does the meal planning work?
Our AI analyzes your children's preferences, dietary restrictions, and nutritional needs to create customized weekly lunch plans. Each meal is balanced and designed to be kid-friendly while ensuring variety and nutrition.
How does automatic meal plan generation work?
For Plus subscribers, our system automatically generates new meal plans every Friday for the upcoming week. Each plan is created based on your child's stored preferences, allergies, and dietary needs. The plans start on Monday and are ready for you to view over the weekend so you can prepare for the week ahead.
How do I turn automatic meal plan generation on or off?
You can control auto-generation in your Account Settings:
1. Click 'My Account' in the top navigation bar
2. Scroll down to the 'Notifications' section
3. Find the 'Automatic Meal Plan Generation' toggle
4. Switch it on or off according to your preference
Note: Auto-generation is only available for Plus subscribers.
Will I be notified when my meal plans are generated?
Yes, you can opt to receive email notifications when your weekly meal plans are automatically generated. This setting can be customized in your notification preferences:
1. Click 'My Account' in the top navigation bar
2. Scroll down to the 'Notifications' section
3. Find the 'Meal Plan Reminders' toggle
4. Switch it on to receive weekly email updates about your meal plans
When enabled, you'll receive an email each time your meal plans are automatically generated.
How many meal plans can I generate per week?
Meal plan generation varies by subscription:
- Basic subscription: Manual generation with the ability to regenerate a plan one additional time per child per week
- Plus subscription: Automated weekly generation with the ability to regenerate a plan two additional times per child per week
Generation limits reset every Monday.
How many children can I add to my account?
The number of child profiles you can create depends on your subscription level:
- Basic subscription: Up to 2 children
- Plus subscription: Up to 5 children
- Lifetime Access: Up to 5 children (same as Plus)
What if I reach my weekly meal plan generation limit?
Once you've reached your weekly limit for a child, you'll need to wait until the following Monday when limits reset. If you frequently need more plans, consider upgrading to our Plus subscription which offers higher generation limits.
Do unused meal plan generations roll over to the next week?
No, unused meal plan generations don't roll over. Each Monday, your generation count resets to zero, giving you a fresh set of generations for the week ahead.
How much time will I save using Lunch Hero?
Parents report saving 3-5 hours per week on meal planning, grocery shopping, and preparation time. Plus, you'll eliminate the daily stress of figuring out what to make!
Can I customize the meal plans?
Yes! Each child profile stores preferences including allergies, favorite foods, and disliked foods. Our AI uses this information to create personalized plans that your children will love. You can update these preferences at any time.
What if my child has allergies or dietary restrictions?
Lunch Hero takes allergies and dietary restrictions very seriously. When creating a child profile, you can add allergies and food restrictions, and our AI will ensure these items are excluded from all meal plans. However, while we make every effort to avoid allergens, it is ultimately the parent's responsibility to review ingredients and ensure the meals they prepare are safe for their children's specific dietary needs.
How detailed are the shopping lists?
Our shopping lists include all ingredients needed for the week's meal plans, organized by category (produce, pantry items, dairy, etc.) to make your grocery shopping efficient and easy.
Can I see examples of meal plans before signing up?
Yes! You can try our free 3-day meal plan generator without creating an account. This gives you a taste of how our AI creates personalized meal plans based on your child's preferences.
What are the differences between the subscription tiers?
- Basic ($4.99/month): Up to 2 children, manual weekly plan generation, detailed ingredients lists
- Plus ($7.99/month): Up to 5 children, automated weekly plan generation, detailed shopping lists with pricing, weekly notifications
- Lifetime Access ($99.99 one-time): One-time payment for ongoing Plus-level access; up to 5 children, automated weekly generation, no recurring fees. May be offered for a limited time. Does not include future tiers (e.g., Max) unless we say otherwise.
What is Lifetime Access?
Lifetime Access is a one-time purchase that gives you ongoing access to Plus-level features with no monthly fee. It includes up to 5 children, automated weekly meal plans, and detailed shopping lists. 'Lifetime' means for as long as we offer the Lunch Hero service. It does not include future premium tiers (e.g., Max) unless we state otherwise. Availability may be limited; see the app or website for current offers.
How do I pay on the mobile app?
On iOS, subscriptions and Lifetime Access are processed securely via Stripe; you may complete purchase in the app or in a browser. On Android, payment is through Google Play (in-app purchase); you pay with your Google account, and subscription management and refunds are handled through Google Play per Google's policies.
How do I cancel or manage my subscription?
On the web or iOS (Stripe): Cancel or change your plan in Account or subscription settings. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period. On Android: Manage or cancel in the Google Play Store (subscriptions for Lunch Hero) or via the link in the app's Account or Subscription screen. Lifetime Access is a one-time purchase with no subscription to cancel.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Yes. Recurring subscriptions (Basic, Plus) can be cancelled at any time from your account settings (web and iOS) or through Google Play (Android). Your access continues until the end of your current billing period. You can also pause your subscription when needed and resume it when you're ready. Lifetime Access is a one-time purchase, so there is no subscription to cancel; refunds for Android in-app purchases may be requested through Google Play where applicable.
